The Life of a Caterpillar

The life of a caterpillar is similar to ours
short, sweet, and a little bazaar.
Their bodies full of lines, similar to scars. 
But they live life to the fullest, reaching for the stars
because their biggest dream before they die
is to turn into a beautiful butterfly.

But before they achieve their greatest feat,
they must start at the bottom, and travel by feet.
While moving around slow and discreet
from plant to plant, searching for something to eat
to grow big and strong.
For Caterpillars, food is the most important of all

And just like us they too have their struggles.
Not all complete their goal
some fall into trouble
from prey who are subtle, or hidden in rubble.
They must constantly hustle, for life is a bustle 
one with little love, and hardly any cuddles

If they get lucky, their life will change soon
for they will self-isolate, and make a cocoon.
And on a random afternoon 
while the sun is shining, and birds are singing their tune
they will break from their shell, becoming anew
while realizing, "if you believe, your dreams will come true".
