We were sitting at a table
no food has reached our plate
there’s a bottle of wine
a candle that shines
and stars to show it’s late.
My heart pounds from nervousness
as a smile lights up her face
she grabs my arm
and says with charm
“relax you look so great”
My anxiety just melts away
and my brain has found some peace
I tilt my head
my thoughts she read
as her eyebrows start to crease.
“J tell me what you’re thinking
I want to know it all”
I try to speak
but my voice falls bleak
as my brain begins to stall.
“I I I I”
is all that leaves my lips
she then leans in
and lifts my chin
to give me one big kiss.
All my thoughts became forgotten
and a smile came shining through
I lose my nerves
than words occur
and I tell her “I love you”.
